MARQUETTE Peninsula Fiber Network, a leading provider of fiber optic services across Michigan and Wisconsin is pleased to announce the appointment of R. Cory Heigl as its new General Manager. With more than two decades of experience in the telecommunications industry, Heigl has a proven track record of driving business growth, managing large-scale operations, and leading teams toward success.

Heigl most recently served as Vice President at Astrea Connect, a business unit of CCI Systems, Inc., where he oversaw strategy, operations, and revenue growth. His extensive expertise in Outside Plant (OSP) construction and business development makes him well-suited to guide PFN as it continues to expand its fiber optic network throughout the Great Lakes region.

“We are excited to welcome Cory to the PFN team,” said Paul Stark, PFN President. “His leadership and deep understanding of both technical operations and strategic growth will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of development.”

In his new role, Heigl will focus on expanding PFN’s service offerings while maintaining its commitment to high-quality telecommunications solutions across the Great Lakes region. “I’m thrilled to join Peninsula Fiber Network at such a pivotal time,” said Heigl. “I look forward to working with the talented team here to continue delivering highly reliable, state-of-the-art fiber services and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the telecommunications landscape.”

Heigl holds a degree in Scientific and Technical Communications from Michigan Tech University and has served in various leadership capacities throughout his career, including as a member of the Vistage Organization and President of the Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Board of Education.

In addition to Heigl’s appointment, James Bednarek, who has been with PFN since 2012, has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Bednarek has played an integral role in the company’s financial operations, guiding PFN through a period of rapid growth and contributing to its strategic financial initiatives, including the successful management of the NTIA Middle Mile grant.

“James has been a key member of the PFN team since our early days, and his leadership has been critical to our growth,” said Jay Brogan, Vice President and Secretary of PFN. “His promotion to CFO reflects his deep commitment and contributions to our success.”

Heigl and Bednarek, together with the rest of the PFN leadership team, will continue to focus on delivering exceptional service and driving innovation in the telecommunications sector.
