SOUTHFIELD – Validrugs team representing TiE Young Entrepreneurs Detroit won the “Best Customer Validation” award at the 2016 TYE Global Competition in Portland, Oregon, pocketing $1,000 for their plan to provide paper that will allow anyone to check if their pharmaceuticals are fake.

The team was composed of Chaitu Dandu, Safal Bora, Rithik Aggarwal, Priyal Bajaj, and Adhrit Archak developed a business plan to bring “PAD Technology” to the masses.

“On behalf of our chapter’s mentors, we are incredibly proud of the Validrugs team for presenting their business plan on the international stage,” said Said Seema Chaturvedi, Founder and Chairperson of TYE. “It was a pleasure watching them, as well as our other TYE participants, grow as entrepreneurs throughout the length of the program. We are looking forward to watching each one of our members accomplish great things in the future.”

Separately, Sanya Verma, a 15-year-old TYE alumna, recently developed a product aimed at solving the water scarcity problem in Haiti. Her company, VivaFlow, was created alongside three California high school students at MIT Launch, a four-week summer entrepreneurship program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The product has since drawn interest from Bill and Melinda Gates.
