ROYAL OAK – Tember Shea, Director of Inforum’s InGAGE program, interviews Christina York, Founder & CEO, ALTality & Spellbound Books, a semi-finalist in the 2017 Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition.

Spellbound is used at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor to distract children during painful and scary procedures. Now Spellbound has gone commercial to work with other hospitals. York participated in Inforum’s InGAGE second-stage female entrepreneur training program. 

York said augmented reality has a tremendous upside potential, illustrated by the phenomenon success of Pokemon Go two summers ago. This application’s success also has made York’s life easier because now she doesn’t have to spend 20 minutes explaining how the technology works, she said.
