LANSING – In a new effort to cut down on government requirements that hamper state worker efficiency, Governor Rick Snyder on Wednesday announced a program called Bureaucracy Busters that will encourage workers to provide direct input on innovative ideas for enhancing efficiency, customer service and their workplace.

Since taking office, Snyder has had regular meetings with state workers to learn more about their jobs and the problems they run into. In a statement, Snyder said it was clear workers feel they are “bogged down with reports, procedures or processes that have little value or should be reinvented.”

The program calls on state workers to use social media through an intranet website to propose ideas and vote on the ideas they like best to help make government more efficient and customer friendly.

The program will then not only help fulfill the state’s mission of making state procedures more cost efficient and customer friendly, it will also help make the work experience more satisfying,” Mr. Snyder said.
