DETROIT – For the fourth year in a row, Detroit Public Television will showcase the ingenuity and expertise of young engineers as part of our award-winning coverage of the FIRST In Michigan Robotics State Championship. This year?s coverage will include a live web stream of the competition on April 11th from 9am until 5pm.

A one-hour broadcast of the event also is scheduled for May 6 at 8 p.m.

The game changes every year in FIRST, and this year’s challenge is called “Recycle Rush? where hundreds of high school students from throughout Michigan will compete for the title of FIRST Champion. But, make no mistake, FIRST isn’t about a game. And it’s not about the robots. The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in mentor-based programs that combine the excitement of a varsity sport with hands-on training in science and technology.
