DETROIT – The Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP) invites Michigan students to add unique experiences and learning activities to their plans this summer through a series of programs and classes.

This summer students can explore a new subject, pick up new skills, and earn certifications in unique summer camps starting in late June. The 2024 programs cover a range of topics from learning basic principles in math, sciences, and engineering to programs in sports science, sports math, music production, filmmaking, and entrepreneurship. SAT Bootcamps are available, as well, for students entering grades 7-11 in the fall.

Unlike other summer programs and classes, students and families can match their summer schedules with DAPCEP’s range of STEM experiences which include 2-day programs, Saturday classes, or a full week of classes.

Classes are offered both in metro Detroit as well as on campuses including Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, the University of Detroit Mercy, University of Michigan Dearborn, Oakland University, and Wayne State University. The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Michigan State University in East Lansing will offer unique residential experiences. Research shows studying on campuses at an early age gives students a glimpse into the future.

For the second year, DAPCEP will offer its popular camps for younger students starting in 2nd grade. The Explorers in STEM Summer Camp provides a unique view of engineering disciplines. There are spaces left for grades 6-8 and grades 2-5 are filled. DAPCEP’s summer camp costs vary, but the Explorers in STEM Camp is only $100.

Summer programs are available to students currently in grades K-12 with grade levels referencing the grade students will start in the fall. Start dates vary as do fees. Financial assistance is available for families who qualify. To learn more, contact DAPCEP at [email protected] or 313-831-3050. Register at www.dapcep.org/summer-camps/.
