ROCHESTER – The Rochester City Council has approved the application for the 10th annual MI Earth Day Fest to be held April 24-26, 2015, at a great new location in the City Center on the banks of the Paint Creek.
The festival site is much larger than last year and will accommodate many more exhibits, attractions and activities. Proximity to Rochester’s natural areas – the popular Municipal Park and Paint Creek Trail – will allow the event to take advantage of the area’s natural beauty and to produce additional special events.
The festival will offer all of the attractions and festivities of past years, including:
150 plus exhibits at 10 shopping venues from Auto Alley to Wellness Way
Kids Korner with straw-bale & tower climbs, and family-friendly activities
Main Stage with a full weekend schedule of popular local talent and awards ceremony
Larger Connect Cafe with NPO round-tables & separate presentation stage
MI Green Hall of Fame & My Green School Art awards ceremony
Planning is underway to add several new and improved special events, including:
Evening-hours Party for the Planet beer garden & headliner entertainment
5k Run for the Planet and bike tour through Rochester parks and trails
Cooperative programs, contests and awards with area schools
Movie premiere screening at a large outdoor venue
DIY workshops including rain-barrel and raised-bed gardening
Tours of Rochester’s award-winning downtown and natural attractions
As always, event participants will benefit from a marketing and publicity effort unmatched by comparable events, including over $150,000 in donated major media advertising, major news coverage including multiple live TV feeds, a popular event website and Facebook page, and consistent community development. With this mounting promotional effort, a great new location, a bigger and better venue, and many new special events, we expect a significant increase in attendance over last year’s 50,000 visitors.
Sponsoring the festival offers a unique opportunity to leverage this marketing, as well as interest in Earth Day and one of its largest observances. A limited number of exclusive sponsorships are available now.
