TROY – The team of Juan Velasquez, Ufuoma Edevbie, Zamira Aliko, and Mike Alsip won the After Hours Consulting Challenge held April 11-12 at the Walsh College Troy campus. Ernst & Young sponsored the Challenge for the best information security business case presentation.

Four teams competed for bragging rights and prizes.

Acting as information security consulting companies, teams began work on a fictional business case on Friday afternoon. They had 24 hours to present their solutions to the judges.

After working until 10:30 p.m., they returned at 7:30 the next morning to continue preparing a 20-minute sales presentation and readying answers for the Q & A.

Presentations began at noon. The judges ? business and security leaders from Ernst & Young ? looked for presentation style, content, and the team?s answers.

By 4:30 p.m. they chose the winning team.

?The Challenge provided a glimpse of the world of security and business consulting and the way consultants work with clients,? said Nan Poulios, director of the Walsh College Information Assurance Center and assistant professor of Business Information Technology.

The Information Assurance Center informs and trains organizations in information protection, compliance, and privacy issues.

Walsh is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education for mapping its Master of Science in Information Assurance degree to all current government security curriculum standards.

Every three years, colleges and graduate-level universities must apply for and pass rigorous criteria to receive the designation.
