LANSING ? U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan’s 8th district, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Intelligence Policy, will be the featured speaker Sept. 11 when the Michigan Homeland Security Consortium commemorates the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9-11-2001.
?We come together to pay tribute to victims and heroes,? said Keith Brophy, MIHSC chairman, and president of NuSoft Solutions, headquartered in Troy. ?We also need to look at how far we?ve come since that fateful day and evaluate our roles and responsibilities as members of the Homeland Security industry.?
Through presentations and discussions, attendees?which will include Michigan Homeland Security companies and related groups?will have an opportunity to reflect on recent events. The group also will address the state?s position as a contributor to Homeland Security?both at home and abroad.
MIHSC is attracting members who recognize a vital need to organize around Homeland Security technologies, public policy and economic development. The group holds its meetings in cities all across Michigan. This event is for MIHSC members and prospective members, elected officials and staff, members of the law enforcement and military community, and others involved or interested in Homeland Security issues.
The event will take place in downtown Lansing on Monday, September 11 and will start promptly at Noon. All attendees must give themselves ample time to pass through Security at the meeting ? a valid ID is required. Lunch will be provided, and a $25 fee will be charged to defray expenses (cash or check to MIHSC).
