SOUTHFIELD – The Motor City Chapter of ISSA’s June meeting will focus on Threat Models Communicated in Business Practices. ISSA Board member Steven Fox will be the presenter June 19 at Cisco Systems’ Southfield office. Registration deadline is June 16.

A successful risk assessment considers the processes that leverage technology in realizing business goals. To this end, risks must be documented in the context of the process from which they emerge. This presentation explores the application of the Unified Modeling Language to create use cases describing the interaction of business processes and enterprise infrastructure. These use cases inform ??risk cases? which are leveraged in the creation of a custom risk management strategy.

Fox has over 18 years experience consulting for educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, Big Three Motor Companies, and training providers. He is a published author and speaker addressing information security within the enterprise. He is the Information Security Advisor for NPower Michigan, a nonprofit IT service provider. He serves on the board of the Detroit ISSA chapter and works closely with the SE Michigan Information Security Regional Skills Alliance. Mr. Fox holds a Masters in Business Information Technology from Walsh College; an NSA designated Center of Excellence.
