LANSING – With Internet-based financial transactions expected to reach an all time high this holiday season, Michigan-based network security company, Periscan, announced that its initial Site Data Protection product has been certified as an officially approved security-scanning vendor for Mastercard.

Any eTailers with sales greater than $125,000 per month are required by Visa and Mastercard to perform security scanning through products like those offered by Periscan. If the business does not scan or meet the standards of the SDP Compliance, the bank may refuse to allow the business to accept Visa and Mastercard. Periscan provides these automated scanning services daily.

“The theft of credit card and confidential information has become such a significant threat in today’s Internet marketplace that we have developed automated solutions to help protect consumers, merchants, and businesses from the most sophisticated hackers. We are excited to be approved as an SDP assessment vendor, and will continue to help improve security of businesses throughout the region,” said Periscan President Sean Heiney.

Mastercard and Visa collaborated in establishing the most rigorous set of standards in the industry, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI Data Security Standard), “to ensure that Merchants and Service Providers are securely storing MasterCard and VISA account data.”
