GLENDALE, Ca. – Panda Security, a provider of IT security solutions, has announced the availability of Panda Security for Internet Transactions, an anti-fraud security service that leverages the company’s collective intelligence in order to protect banks and online merchants against active malware targeting business to consumer transactions.
“A good portion of the malware being created [today] is for financial fraud,” said Gary Leibowitz, general manager with Panda Security. “The intention of the bad guys is to create some type of malware or targeted Trojan and do financial damage and disappear before being detected.”
What Panda Security for Internet Transactions does is determine whether business to consumer online interactions such as banking, shopping and stock trading have been infected by a targeted banker Trojan or piece of malware that has financial fraud in its intent.
“If you deal with anything online, there is always some financial danger,” Leibowitz noted.
Panda Security combats these dangerous Trojans by quickly scanning users’ PCs for threats and then automatically protects them against financial harm based on their preferred, customizable management options. Since the transparent scan takes less than five seconds, consumers can continue using the Internet without interruption.
The service utilizes collective intelligence, a proprietary method of predicting and preventing targeted attacks by associating malware detections and behavioral patterns within “the cloud,” rather than using a large signature file to identify threats. As well, collective intelligence is a method of predicting and preventing targeted attacks by correlating the malware detections and behavioral patterns of more than 4,000 samples per day from the entire Internet user community at large.
Also, collective intelligence complements authentication found in business to consumer transactions.
Other features of Panda Security for Internet Transactions include no resident signatures and targeted attack alert service, where Panda will be looking for any new targeted Trojans on a 24/7/365 basis for customers that have signed up for the service, said Leibowitz.
The Panda Security for Internet Transactions service is available now directly from Panda Security as software that is added onto a customer’s website where it would enable them to scan consumers while they are interacting with them. It is priced at $1.50 (U.S.) per user with volume discounts available.
