SOUTHFIELD ? Brian Gawne of Olympus Security is the new president of the Motor City Chapter of ISSA, which also elected a new board.

Besides Gawne, the new board members include Vice President C.J. Cui of Deloitte, Secretary Alex Goldstein of Incat and Treasurer Don Ledwith of Cinbrich, Mahlak and Co.

?Our agenda for the year is we want to continue to bring vendor neutral topics regarding government regulations back to our vendors,?? Gawne said. ?We?re trying to establish partnerships with other security groups as well. We?d like to find some sponsors for some industry specific half-day seminars.?

Speaking of events, the February Motor City ISSA event will present a challenge to members to defend or attack a computer system, which will showcase ways to block hacker attacks. Capture The Flag was a very popular program a year ago, Gawne said, and he?s expecting a large turnout when it returns on Feb. 16.

At the Jan. 19 meeting, Jim Hanlon of Hanlon & Associates on Managing Security from a CISCO Perspective. Gawne said about 40 people attended.
