DETROIT – The Mobile Technology Association of Michigan is launching a statewide Mobile Security Advisory Committee to develop resources, events, educational, networking and business development opportunities to create national and international engagement with Michigan companies in the mobile security sector.

The committee will consist of members who:

* Work in the security sector of the mobile and wireless industry

* Work in business, government and education areas where mobile security knowledge and resources are required

* Are involved in the legal aspects of mobile security issues

* Are interested in expanding their knowledge of mobile device management, mobile security and the issues surrounding the sector

* Believe that innovation in this sector of the industry can aid in the growth of Michigan?s economy

Chairing the MTAM Mobile Security Advisory Committee will be Caston Thomas, CEO of InterWorks Technology, whose focus is on helping organizations manage and secure their IT infrastructure as mobile and cloud-based computing impact the way people get their work done.

?Privacy and security is on the mind of just about everyone these days,? Thomas said. ?Michigan companies and our state government have stepped forward and are addressing the concerns of businesses and individuals. Michigan firms are at the forefront of securing doctor /patient interactions, developing mobile commerce tools, preventing state sponsored attacks against national defense and critical infrastructure, and developing ways to track assets and people without infringing on personal privacy. The mission of MTAM?s Mobile Security Advisory Committee is to channel the passion and creativity of Michigan businesses, as well as to provide the resources and connections to make the most of what we are creating, and to promote our innovations nationally and internationally.?
