DETROIT ? Michigan students won five of the 100 Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarships awarded nationwide, which pay from $10,000 to $15,000 annually for educational expenses.

The federal program also includes hands-on internship work in federal agencies in Washington DC. When these students graduate, each will be given a full-time job with the Department of Defense.

Recipients of graduate scholarships were Bradley Wilkerson, Nichole Wilinski and Mohammed Shajera. The undergraduate scholarship winner was Katie Kuchlbauer. Two of the students came from partner institutions. Kuchlbauer from Oakland Community College and Shajera is from Henry Ford Community College.

Walsh College IAC graduate student Jeremy Root also won a DOD scholarship. Root was the first student enrolled in Walsh?s Master of Science in Information Assurance degree.
