LANSING – Michigan Homeland Security Consortium, an industry trade association of Homeland Security companies in Michigan has become a supporting organization for the American Security Challenge, a non-profit mechanism to nurture and fund emerging security technology firms devoted to our national security.
“We invite entrepreneurs and security technology companies in Michigan to submit their executive summary for consideration to win financial and contractual awards. Michigan needs new jobs and this is an opportunity for Michigan companies to invest new money into their companies,” said Stephen Potter, MIHSC Chairman.
The event, solely funded by the private sector, is supported by some of the most influential organizations and corporations in America with both monetary and contractual awards. The 2009 American Security Challenge takes place May 21, 2009 in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with the 2009 Homeland Security S&T Stakeholders Conference East, presented by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) with subject matter support provided by the Science & Technology Directorate (S&T) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In 2008 Undersecretary Jay Cohen provided the keynote for the event and Governor Tom Ridge accepted the 2008 Patriot Award.
The deadline for funding award consideration is March 31. Full details on eligibility and rules are available in a short video introduction can be found at AmericanSecurityChallenge.Com
