LANSING – Dan Lohrmann, Chief Security Officer for the State of Michigan, was named the 2008 CSO of the year by SC Magazine. The magazine sponsors the US Awards Program for outstanding achievement in information technology security.

?Dan does a fantastic job for us and for the citizens of Michigan,? said Ken Theis, Director of the Michigan Department of Information Technology and CIO for the State of Michigan. ?We battle new threats to our information security every day, and Dan is at the forefront of that battle, making sure we protect the state?s vital information.?

The annual awards have recognized security?s key contributors and outstanding products for more than a decade. As the industry?s preeminent award program, finalists address not only the challenges prominent today, but also the emerging threats of tomorrow.

?Dan Lohrmann represents one of the industry?s leading lights,? said SC Magazine Editor Illena Armstrong. ?Moving into 2008, our judges recognize that Mr. Lohrmann is helping them identify and address the emerging security issues of tomorrow.?

Lohrmann and the other 2008 SC Magazine Professional Award winners were marked for distinction by a panel of 17 leading chief security officers from major corporations and large public sector organizations. With more than 600 entries submitted in thirty categories, the 2008 SC Magazine Awards proved to be the most competitive in the program?s eleven year history.
