LANSING – David Behen, CIO for the state of Michigan, was named as a 2014 Premier 100 IT Leaders honoree by IDG’s Computerworld at its annual leadership conference on Tuesday.
This year?s recognition program spotlights 100 leaders from both the technology and business sides of companies for their exceptional technology leadership and innovative approaches to business challenges.
?It is an honor to be recognized as part of such an elite group of individuals,? Behen said. ?Being a CIO requires constant reinvention, which is why I love being a part of the team aiding with Michigan?s reinvention. None of this could have been accomplished without a great team and leadership support from Governor Rick Snyder and John Nixon, director of the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.?
The Premier 100 program was created in 2000 to spotlight individuals who have had a positive impact on their organizations through technology. Individuals selected for recognition manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams and business colleagues, create a positive work environment, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies.
Each year, 100 honorees are selected to receive Computerworld?s life-time recognition award.
In addition to his role as the state?s CIO, Behen recently took over as director of the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget after former director John Nixon resigned to accept a position with the University of Utah.
