BRIGHTON ? Those eggbeater-like Dermond Wind turbines getting plugged into the North American power grid by McKenzie Bay International will now be protected from cyber intruders by Pioneer Technology Services.

Pioneer will provide eSecurity managed services, including data collection and warehousing, under a three-year agreement signed with McKenzie Bay. Pioneer will also provide IT support for accounting data collection and routing to McKenzie Bay and its subsidiary companies.

?Our systems combine windmills that generate, store and use power on command,?? said McKenzie Bay President Gary Westerholms. ?Our windmills go on buildings or adjacent to them. They?ll provide alternative energy supplies that will help us reduce our dependence on foreign oil.?

Westerholms said the deal would be worth millions of dollars to Pioneer.

“With our commercial rollout of WindStor, Pioneer has in place the capability to conduct real time protection of the sensitive computer systems individually controlling our installation sites,” Westerholm said. “It is very critical to our future that none of our installation sites have their operations interrupted.”

Pioneer CEO Tony Robinson described the McKenzie deal as one of the largest his company has ever booked.

?Our staff expertise and super computer technology will provide a 24/7 e-Security blanket of safeguards around each of the power generation sites,” Robinson said.
