LANSING – Benefit from the expertise of the GE-CERT team as they provide a fun and meaningful scenario focusing on incident response. The scenario, exercises, instructional assistance, and summary will be provided by two highly seasoned and time tested IT security experts from GE-CERT.

The venue this year is the amazing Technical Training Center at the West Campus of Lansing Community College. This is a state-of-the-art facility with fully equipped computer labs, an auditorium for the general meetings, and plenty of room for the breakfast, lunch, and networking breaks.

Fun, food and prizes!

A continental breakfast and hot lunch are included in the registration fee. There will be great prizes for each skill level and a general raffle for all participants. The first 30 people to register will receive a USB flash drive at the door, containing the presentations and a copy of the Netwars scenario.

Participate in one of three different skill levels:

Novice

This track is great for individuals who are new to the security field and incident response concepts. During the event, trainers will be available to assist members of this group and walk them through the exercise. Consider the Novice track if:

– You’ve never worked with network analyzers or sniffers

– You have little experience analyzing PCAP files

– Great for students or those with 1- 2 years of IT experience

Intermediate

The intermediate track is best suited for individuals with some experience in Information Security, networking, or incident response. Participants in the intermediate track will still receive assistance so don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. Consider the intermediate track if:

– You’ve been working in IT or the Security field for 3+ years

– You have experience logging and filtering PCAP files

– Great for IT professionals seeking more of a challenge

Advanced

The Advanced track is for seasoned security and networking professionals who have a good understanding of network and forensic analysis. Participants will be asked to dive deeper than the novice and intermediate tracks to find information and assess the problem. Assistance will be offered on a limited basis. Consider the advanced track if:

– You’ve worked in information technology or security for 5+ years

– You are very familiar with computer and network forensic concepts

– Are able to assess and utilize advanced PCAP filters
