TROY – A robotics lab grant proposal is among 18 student projects that will be showcased on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Walsh College Business Information Technology and Information Assurance Capstone Fair at the Troy campus. The fair, which is free to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 128.

The Capstone project demonstrates to faculty, family, fellow students, and industry professionals that students have mastered their subject area before graduating. These students are in their final semester toward earning Walsh Master of Science in Information Systems or Master of Science in Information Assurance degrees.

Students are encouraged to solve a real- world problem in their Capstone projects. At this fair, projects range from database applications for local Boy Scout troop management to radio-frequency identifications (RFID) in libraries, Associate Professor Jeffery Livermore, Ph.D., said. Past projects include training programs for insurance companies, Web sites, and a Web application that allowed a customer to design a custom label for wine bottles. Students often connect their projects to where they work, Livermore said.

?The projects are extremely time-consuming and require a lot of hard work, yet they are extremely rewarding,? he added.
