LANSING ? An expert panel will discuss sources of capital for homeland security businesses on Dec. 4 during the 2nd annual Michigan Homeland Security Venture and Angel Capital Symposium at Cleary University’s Howell campus.

The keynote speaker is former Republican gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos, son of Amway cofounder Richard DeVos. The younger DeVos is president of Windquest Group.

An expert panel will discuss sources of capital for homeland security businesses. They include Tom Anderson of Automation Alley, Mark Clevey of the Small Business Association of Michigan, Ned Stabler of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and Jack Miner of Battle Creek Unlimited. On this topic, special remarks will be presented by U.S. Marine Corps Major General Bradley Lott, the newly appointed Director of the Defense Contract Coordination Center, administered by the (MEDC).

Another panel discussion, entitled ?Top Ten Legal Issues When Obtaining VC Investments,? will be led by Jeff VanWinkle of Clark Hill PLC and other attorneys who specialize in venture legal matters.

In addition, MIHSC will provide information about its new partnership with Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU), which has been selected to manage and source the Michigan Homeland Security Resource Fund.

The program segment is sponsored and located at Cleary University, an institution committed to teaching the American free market economic system, ethical business practices and leadership skills.

Registration for the event opens at 8:00 a.m. with the public program starting at 9:00 a.m. This event takes place at Cleary University?s campus at 3750 Cleary Drive in Howell. The cost is $25 for members and $40 for non-members.
