YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University’s Center For Regional and National Security has been reappointed as a Center of Academic Excellence through 2014.
The news came from CeRNS’ Skip Lawver, Associate Professor, College of Technology. Who also said the NSA certified several CeRNS programs as meeting the 4011 and 4012 training standards for information security professionals in the federal government.
“We have three programs of interest for students, the Bachelors Degree in Information Assurance,” Lawver said. “The masters of Technology Studies with concentration in Information Assurance, and the PHD in Technology with concentration in Information Assurance.”
Plus CeRNS has added a new initiative with the Department of Homeland Security Critical Homeland Protection Division and National Chambers of Commerce.
“We’ll help secure small business cyberspace,” he said. “We’re taking our juniors and seniors and writing up their resumes from government standards for positions of trust. Those resumes are posted under our web site under skill sets. Small businesses in Southeast Michigan can access the web site, and pick up resumes that fit their needs.”
In other CeRNS news, Lawver said he has enrolled 28 freshmen for the fall term, and 30 new graduate students.
