DETROIT ? The University of Detroit-Mercy is hosting workshops on Saturday mornings for Southeast Michigan University students, out of work IT professionals, ICSEC Community College students, and high school students. Topics will range from how to use security software, how to use security hardware, nuts and bolts of wireless communications, how to create bootable USB drives, Linux essentials, and how to crack WEP.
U-D Mercy needs volunteers to conduct workshops. Volunteers should be very familiar with the topic for the workshop. The workshop presenter will give a short introduction to the topic and the context that makes it important. The workshop will be informal, a two page outline of the tasks to be covered should be sufficient. Priorities are: Using FTK, Using FREDs, Using Backtrack, Using Metasploit, Using VMs, Using free tools to secure your computers, Wireless communications.
