DEARBORN – Active InfraGard leader and cyber-crime specialist Gary Warner is schedule to speak at Detroit SecureWorld about his group, Phishing Incident Respose & Termination Squad, and his passion for identifying, documenting and tracking cyber crimials.
As the director of IT planning and infrastructures for Energen Corp. since 1997, Gary Warner is also the secretary and member of the board of the InfraGard National Members Alliance. His presentation at SecureWorld, PIRT: A Neighborhood Watch for Phishing (Help Wanted!), will cover identifying, documenting and tracking phishing emails and how to do something productive with them.
At the Detroit SecureWorld Expo, he is expected to talk about his active group the Phishing Incident Response & Termination Squad (PIRT) and his daily passion for identifying, documenting and tracking cyber attackers. His PIRT group actively takes phishing complaints from the general public, documents the incident, and reports their findings to more than 40 anti-phishing companies, organizations, and law enforcement agencies, including the FBI’s NCFTA and IC3, and DHS’s US-CERT. The team has worked more than 30,000 reported URLs in the last three months, and has documented and reported for termination more than 1,500 “live phish” in the last 30 days.
