SOUTHFIELD ? Computer Associates International has rolled out its North American Internet Service Provider program ? which includes its eTrust security software ? worldwide.
CA?s eTrust security software is used by many of the largest ISPs and is available to more than 10 million ISP subscribers in the United States.
?ISPs are adding security to their access offerings not only to differentiate their services but also because subscriber expectations have shifted, making security a necessity,? said Danielle Levitas, vice president, Consumer and Broadband Markets, IDC.
CA developed its ISP Program in response to the growing demand of consumers needing security protection through their ISP. The program also helps ISPs realize operational efficiencies and cost savings, while delivering world-class security software to combat online threats such as viruses, spyware, spam, phishing, hackers, and identity theft.
Time Warner Cable?s Road Runner service provides customers with free downloads of CA?s antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware and anti-spam security software.

Cablevision?s Optimum Online was one of the first high-speed Internet providers to recognize the importance of Internet safety and security, and has been offering CA?s security software to its customers since March 2002. Since late last year, antivirus, firewall and parental control software from CA has been available to all Optimum Online customers at no additional charge.
CA offers customized licensing options for ISPs on its full portfolio of eTrust security products, including eTrust Antivirus, eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware, eTrust Anti-Spam and eTrust Personal Firewall, which are backed by CA?s global research teams that identify and nullify the latest online threats.
