DETROIT – David Kircos of Grosse Pointe and Hunter Rosenblume of Syosset, New York, won the $5,000 grand prize for building the top app for the Detroit Public Library at the #hackDP competition earlier this month. Both are interns at Detroit Venture Partners.
The event was sponsored by Automation Alley. The app building competition was recently held at Automation Alley?s Detroit office at Grand Circus. The duo worked together to speak with librarians to determine what they needed from an app, and proceeded to build an app that will provide library users with alerts and notifications about Detroit Public Library events, mobile payments and transcribed voice mail messages sent to staff.
The developers said they built the app on a web platform, which can be used by Apple and Android devices, and when the library wants to update the apps, users won?t have to click an update button. A date when the new app will be released has not been set.
