FLINT ? Rowe Engineering, a business member of GLIMAEast, is moving its offices, and more than 100 employees, from Mundy Township to new digs in downtown Flint, part of the downtown revitalization efforts underway in this auto factory town.
The change involves Rowe?s Civil engineering, Land survey, Aerial photography, Planning and Landscape architecture departments.
Rowe selected a mixed-use development involving three buildings on the west side of Saginaw Street in downtown Flint. The development involves
new construction, as well as restoration and renovation of existing buildings, including the former Maas Brothers department store,
Carlton’s Stationers, and Jewelry World.
The project includes approximately 80,000 square feet of renovated space. Both wired and wireless technologies will be incorporated. There is also
talk of housing a permanent GPS reference point.
Rowe will take second and third-floor offices ? some 30,000 square feet and 151 work spaces. The first floor houses the Blue Collar Gourmet, restaurants, a nightclub and a game room. The fourth floor includes eight loft apartments.
The Rowe group of companies includes five offices: Mundy Township; Lapeer; Mt. Pleasant; Flint (Air-Land Surveys); and Grayling (Myers Land Survey Company). It is expected that Mundy Township and Air-Land Surveys staff will merge in this new development late in 2006.
