KALAMAZOO – On July 6, the Charter Township of Comstock, Southwest Michigan First, Midlink Business Park and the Kalamazoo County Road Commission will hold a road opening dedication ceremony to commemorate the completion of more than two miles of new public and private roads throughout Midlink?s 240-acre development.

The former General Motors stamping plant was once home to nearly 4,000 employees, but closed in the late 1990s as a result of industry consolidation. Today, the facility represents state of the art design, and is a model for industrial redevelopment. With two tenants recently announcing the leasing of over 700,000 square feet of the facility, jobs and investment have returned to the building.

The new public road, named Midlink Drive in honor of this historic property, opens up two new access points to South Sprinkle Road/ Covington and South Sprinkle Road/ VanRick Drive intersections. The private road, Center Park Plaza, creates a truck friendly loading and staging area to Midlink east and west, and two new upgraded public entrances off Cork Street.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled from 9 – 10 a.m. at the new boulevard entrance of Midlink Business Park at VanRick and Sprinkle Road. Media are encouraged to call ahead for priority photo opportunities and interviews. Contact Gretchen Johnson at 877.553.9588 or by email at [email protected]
