LANSING – The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth unveiled an updated version of its Michigan Talent Bank and Labor Market Information web sites Friday, which give employers and job seekers free listings.
Once at the Talent Bank, drop down menus display information for Job Seekers or Employers. Users can search for jobs on the front page, or use an advanced search engine and narrow their focus through multiple keywords, salary range, location and other categories.
The web site currently has more than 600,000 posted resumes. The old site attracted upwards of 8,000 job seekers and 1,000 employers a day. Presently, the web site features almost 48,000 job postings.
Unlike for-profit job search web sites, which often charge employers to post vacancies, there is no cost to employers and job seekers to post to the Michigan Talent Bank.
Also unveiled was a one-stop-shop web site for Michigan workforce data. The new Labor Market Information site would allow users to compare data from traditional fact-based searches like statewide figures and regional trends to job-seeker specific searches based on skill requirements and compensation.
