MANISTEE – Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy, a tuition-free online public school for students in Michigan, will begin the 2014-15 school year on September 2, marking the start of its second year as one of the fastest growing schools in Michigan.

Students who enroll at MGLVA follow an academic program that includes engaging web-based lessons along with instructional materials ? books, videos, CDs and other hands-on tools and resources ? which are shipped directly to each student’s home. MGLVA teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, and regularly interact with students and parents via email, web-based classrooms, phone and face-to-face meetings. Teachers also organize numerous field trips and school activities where students have the opportunity to participate in events that blend academics and socialization.

“We’re delighted to commence another year of academic achievement and personal growth with our MGLVA community,” Kendall Schroeder, Head of School for MGLVA. “The individualized K? program gives Michigan students a tailored education that is specific to each learner. Our goal is to help students realize their potential and thrive in their educational careers.”

MGLVA provides core courses in Language Arts/English, Math, Science, History, World Languages Art and Music, while the high school curriculum offers more than 150 core, elective and Advanced Placement courses. Students can also choose to participate in a variety of extracurricular groups and clubs.
