ANN ARBOR ? MedArray founder Patrick Montoya won $5,000 as the June Best of Boot Camp award winner by the Ann Arbor SPARK Business Accelerator.
MedArray developed a proprietary silicone membrane hollow fiber that has enabled the production of highly efficient blood oxygenators suitable for short and long term cardio-respiratory support applications, such as intravascular devices and thoracic artificial lungs.
“It was a difficult choice for the judges, since there were several teams who exhibited significant potential among the thirteen participants of this session of Entrepreneur Boot Camp,” said Skip Simms, executive director of SPARK Business Accelerator, which sponsored Boot Camp.
“All of the teams demonstrated significant progress in the ability to tell the story in the three deliverables from Boot Camp — the Elevator Pitch, the Executive Summary to a Business Plan and the Executive Overview Presentation, which was judged during the Boot Camp Celebration.?
The criteria for judging was market potential, management team experience and clarity of presentation. The Entrepreneur Boot Camp was held June 1-2 at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) in Ann Arbor.
Other successful companies that have participated in this or past Boot Camps include INVIA Imaging Solutions, Compendia Biosciences, Rapid BioSense, Space Weather, EnVironmental Transportation and ERT Solutions.
The Entrepreneur Boot Camp is an intensive two-day business planning and preparation program designed to help early-stage technology businesses finalize their business concept. The event is held twice annually and the next Boot Camp is scheduled for November 2 and 3. Admission is limited to 12 teams and typically more than 20 teams apply.
