ANN ARBOR – The Linux Box will once again sponsored a case-study competition with the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Evening MBA Association.

Fifteen teams from the Ross School of Business submitted growth strategy proposals designed for Linux Box’s future Chicago branch. The top three proposals were presented to representatives from the Linux Box Corporation, who judged the recommendations based on industry understanding, creativity and usefulness of implementation. Students Mark Birac and Anil Jacob, members of the Maximus team, were awarded the grand prize, dinner for two at The Earle in Ann Arbor.

“Cases like these help sharpen our analytical skills, apply learned business knowledge and teach us to solve problems and deliver solutions to CEOs of businesses under extremely tight deadlines,” said Mark Birac, evening MBA student and winner of the 2007 case study competition.

“The Open Source movement is characterized by a spirit of giving back and sharing insights,” said Elizabeth Ziph, chief executive officer of the Linux Box Corporation. “We’ve sponsored this competition for two years with that spirit in mind. We welcome the opportunity to interact with the MBA students and University of Michigan faculty and hope to maintain this partnership into the future.”
