On Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation presented a check for $948,650 to the Kalamazoo County Road Commission for road projects in the Kalamazoo area.
Part of the funding included a TEDF Category A grant in the amount of $400,000 to fund improvements to Sprinkle Road in support of the new Stryker manufacturing facility. The facility represents a $32,580,000 investment and will create 65 new jobs in the City of Portage.
The monies also include Critical Bridge funding for Portage Road over Gourdnexk Creek and V Avenue over Little Portage Creek. The total cost of these projects is $577,500 of which $548,650 will come from the Critical Bridge Fund.
