ANN ARBOR – The IT Zone is pleased to announce its relationship with the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA). IT Zone President Diane Durance was elected to the GLREA Board of Directors on December 2.

GLREA is a non-profit membership organization that advocates, promotes, and publicly demonstrates renewable energy technologies. The organization provides training for the implementation of renewable energy technology, including wind and solar energy systems. Increasingly, the organization is working with businesses seeking to retrofit existing buildings and consulting with builders incorporating renewable energy systems into new construction.

?I am honored to be a part of GLREA. Their mission is to increase the mainstream use of renewable energy technologies and sustainable energy practices. This is a very important issue to our technology community and IT Zone members. I?m pleased to have the opportunity to participate in this effort,? said Durance.

GLREA annual meeting was held in Ann Arbor on December 2 to celebrate 15 years of advocacy. Speakers recapped the 2006 achievements and 2007 goals for the organization. Ann Arbor Mayor, John Hieftje presented an overview of his Green Energy Challenge for the city of Ann Arbor.
