ANN ARBOR – IT Zone member HealthMedia has announced a new growth strategy that includes the acquisition of Boston-based MySelfHelp.com, an expansion of its diabetes program and the addition of employee productivity measures for companies using its program.
HealthMedia is a University of Michigan spinoff founded in 1998. Health plan providers and large employers license HealthMedia?s online material, which are aimed at consumer health care issues such as promoting healthy lifestyles, smoking cessation, nutrition and weight management. It also tailors materials toward managing diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, chronic conditions and back pain.
The addition of MySelfHelp.com will add a subscription-based interactive Web site with forums and information on depression, stress and eating disorders, among other health issues ? and round out HealthMedia?s product line.
The diabetes program will expand its focus beyond just diabetes treatment to a consumer?s entire health. The third component of HealthMedia?s strategy is designed to help employers measure worker productivity as part of the return on investment when consumers use HealthMedia programs.
According to HealthMedia president and CEO Ted Dacko, ?All three of these things mix together and should help fuel our future growth. We fully expect that these initiatives will add jobs in the Ann Arbor marketplace as well.?
The company currently employs about 90 people and expects to grow to 120 to 130 employees by the end of 2007. The company also expects to add $6 to $8 million in revenue in the same time period.
