GRAND RAPIDS – A rapidly growing business has forced glimaWEST President Jeff Meyers to resign effective January. glimaWEST Vice Presdent Randy Shier will take Meyers’ position on the board.
“Something has got to give and I need to scale back my duties with glimaWEST,” Meyers said. “To have somebody at that position, you need someone to devote 100 percent of their time. I can no longer do that because of my growing business.”
Meyers said he will remain on the glimaWEST executive board as an advisor, but not as an official board member. What the board now needs to do is figure out who will become vice president to backstop Shier, Meyers said.
“glimaWEST will continue to be at the top of my list,” Meyers said. “I?ll continue to give my support and help in my advisory role. I encourage you to keep supporting the new president, the board of directors, and the entire glimaWEST group. Together we can make sure that the group we?ve all helped to build continues to grow and prosper in the coming years.”
He noted 2006 has been shaping up as a great year for the technology community. Meyers’ company, BlueSky Ventures, is turing away business. He’s seeing signs of an improved IT economy in West Michigan as well.
