STERLING HEIGHTS ? A symposium on Sept. 20 co sponsored by Automation Alley will examine why manufacturers, challenged from the decline in the domestic auto industry and outsourcing, need to diversify in today’s changing economy.
For decades, area manufacturers have been doing business as usual in a previously-thriving auto market. Now faced with declining sales and contracts, manufacturers need to turn to different avenues for work. For the first time, four organizations have come together to unite their resources in an effort to guide manufacturers to new market opportunities.
Other co sponsors of Diversifying in a Flat World include the Sterling Heights, Utica, Shelby Chamber of Commerce, the City of Sterling Heights and the Macomb County Planning & Economic Development Department.
