KALAMAZOO ? Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will offer non-stop jet service between Kalamazoo and Delta?s Atlanta hub starting Sept. 9.
The new flight will operate on a 50-seat CRJ200. Delta and Delta Connection currently has 35 weekly departures from Kalamazoo to Cincinnati. The new once daily flight to Atlanta will depart at 7 a.m. and return at 10 p.m.
?Our new flight to Atlanta offers Kalamazoo customers connecting opportunities to more than 1,000 daily departures to nearly 500 worldwide destinations operated by Delta and Delta Connection carriers and Sky Team partners,?? said ASA President Skip Barnette. ?And with the well-timed flight schedule, business travelers can depart Kalamazoo in the morning and arrive home in time for the nightly news.?
Kalamazoo Airport Director Kenneth Potts said: ?We have been in continual conversations with Delta since receiving the funding under the Small Community Air Service Development Program. Atlanta service will improve connections and fares to three our top five destinations.
?There are several that I would like to thank, including Southwest Michigan First for their generous pledge in funds for this project, Congressmen Fred Upton for his continued support, the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners, assistance received from Mike Boyd from the Boyd Group and many others in the community that made this happen,?? Potts said. ?We also had great cooperation from Delta and Delta Connection partners. Now we must show our support and fill the planes.?
