DETROIT ? Butzel Long attorney David DuMouchel will deliver two seminars Nov.29 at the Michigan State Management Education Center in Troy during Continuing Legal Education and Fraud Awareness programs.
In the morning, DuMouchel will give a presentation called, ?Handling Client Perjury and Incriminating Evidence? during an Institute of Continuing Legal Education seminar.
In the afternoon, he will give the keynote luncheon address during a Fraud Awareness Summit. DuMouchel will offer insight and practical recommendations regarding the lessons he has learned through his involvement with internal corporate investigations, corporate compliance and criminal defense.
DuMouchel chairs the firm’s Corporate Compliance, Internal Investigations and Criminal Defense practice. His practice is limited to criminal defense, professional licensure and criminal health care matters, internal corporate investigations and compliance.
Last year, DuMouchel and colleague, Laurie Michelson were part
of a team of attorneys representing current and former employees of TAP Pharmaceutical Inc. in a criminal trial in the U.S. District Court in Boston. The TAP case is considered one of the largest health care cases
of this type in U.S. history.
The case involved an alleged criminal conspiracy to violate the federal Anti-Kickback Statute. Originally, there were 12 defendants. One defendant plead guilty, one was granted a severance, and two were dismissed from the case by the district court judge at the close of all the evidence. After three days of deliberations, the jury acquitted all the eight remaining defendants on all charges.
