TROY ? Automation Alley has promoted some of the managers that have helped the Southeast Michigan technology marketing powerhouse grow to more than 500 members. Some of the changes were precipitated by the departure of marketing director Beth Utton to John Bailey & Associates public relations.

“As Automation Alley continues to grow, we are excited to promote current Automation Alley staff to these positions that are so important to our continued success,” said Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers. “They bring the experience and knowledge necessary to continue to expand the technology business and workforce development in the Automation Alley region, which now reaches eight counties and the City of Detroit.”

The following staff were promoted:

Tom Anderson, senior director, Automation Alley, director, Automation Alley Technology Center: Anderson, previously director of the Technology Center, is now responsible for overseeing the operations of Automation Alley along with executive director Ken Rogers. In addition, he will serve as president of the Automation Alley Education & Research Institute, the Alley’s new 501(c)(3) addition.

Charlie DeVries, director, government affairs, Automation Alley: DeVries, previously assistant director of the Automation Alley Technology Center, is now responsible for government relations on the state and federal level, overseeing Automation Alley’s Regional Taskforce and managing the Technology Center’s clients.

Lisa Mauch, director, member services, Automation Alley: Mauch, previously assistant director program development, is now responsible for managing member programs and services, as well as overseeing the professional and support staff.

Michelle Zellen, director, communications and events, Automation Alley: Zellen, previously event manager, is now responsible for managing all external and internal communications, including public relations, marketing and advertising, as well as coordinating Automation Alley events.

More than 560 businesses, educational institutions and government entities belong to Automation Alley, covering an eight county area and the City of Detroit. Automation Alley promotes regional prosperity through the Automation Alley International Business Center, which provides business attraction services and exporting assistance; the Automation Alley Technology Center, which brings together businesses, educators and government to help entrepreneurs accelerate technology commercialization; and the GLIMA Network, one of the country’s largest associations for individuals involved in the business of technology and related fields.
