ANN ARBOR – The Ann Arbor IT Zone has a new role to play by becoming the primary venure for the Washtenaw Community College Security Speaker Bureau.

WCC offers more than 22 computer related certificate and degree programs in addition to offering courses that prepare students for professional certification.

“The relationship just seems like a natural fit,” said Diane Durance, IT Zone president. “The IT Zone is at the hub of activity for new and existing technology businesses in Washtenaw County and Washtenaw Community College provides technical training in the areas required by today’s businesses to stay competitive.”

WCC employs faculty who maintain close ties to industry, many of whom came from positions in industry, said Neil Gudsen, Computer Information Systems Program Manager for Washtenaw Community College.

“The relationship with the IT Zone allows our faculty an avenue to stay in touch with the business community and to provide much needed education on the topic of computer security to the local business community,” Gudsen said. “This relationship also allows for our students to show off their skills and make important professional contacts through events like the upcoming ‘Ask the Expert’ event on May 9 as well as through internships with IT Zone member organizations.”
