DETROIT -The Michigan Science Center is ready to inspire curious minds of all ages with new programming this spring and summer.   

Earth and Space Science Month: Throughout the month of April, MiSci will celebrate earth and space science with special activities and programs, including free general admission on Sunday, April 22 in honor of Earth Day. Registration for this free day will be available beginning April 9 at Mi-Sci.org

MiSci Annual Gala – This year’s gala will encourage everyone to look up and learn more about what lies beyond. The space-themed event takes place on May 4, 2018 and helps support MiSci’s efforts to encourage and inspire tomorrow’s STEM leaders. You can be among the 600 people to enjoy this entertaining night and hear details about the James Webb Space Telescope from a leading NASA astrophysicist.

  • Gala – 6 – 11 p.m. – Ticket is $500/person
  • Afterglow – 9 – 11 p.m. – Ticket is $100/person

Summer Science Camp – Summer Science Camp registration is now open. From the heights of space to the depths of the sea, campers will have a new interactive and engaging experience each week. Campers in PreK – 8th grades will explore exciting science topics including biology, chemistry, engineering, robotics and more. Campers also will enjoy weekly field trips, museum exploration time, planetarium shows, and live presentations.

Cost: Camp costs $280 per camper per week; parents can register their kids at mi-sci.org/camps.

After Dark – Reinvent your Thursday nights with After Dark at the Michigan Science Center. Deemed the “thinking person’s happy hour,” the After Dark series takes place on the third Thursday of every month and lets adults (ages 21+) enjoy a night full of science and entertainment. Explore a different theme each month, play with hundreds of hands-on exhibits, enjoy good music, and engage in lively discussions for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Cost: Tickets are $15 ($10 for members) and include one drink ticket; a cash bar is also available. Tickets can be purchased at mi-sci.org/after-dark.

 

The STEM Playground – MiSci will feature interactive activities at the STEM Playground, located in the ITC Gallery. A new feature this summer is the JENGAÒ robot provided by JR Automation that demonstrates robotic principles by utilizing JENGAÒ  blocks to build objects. Access to the STEM Playground is included in the price of general admission.
