DETROIT–The Metro Detroit Teaching Residency for Urban Excellence will host an information session Tuesday, Dec. 11 at The Engineering Society of Detroit.

The session will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at ESD Headquarters, 20700 Civic Center Drive, Suite 450, in Southfield.

The Metro Detroit TRUE Project is an accelerated graduate level certification and residency program for recent graduates and mid-career professionals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) or computer science (CS) fields.

TRUE allows participants to earn a Wayne State University master’s degree and teaching certification in secondary mathematics or science within 18 months while receiving a living stipend. Participants will also receive mentoring support throughout the program and for two years post graduation.

Participants must commit to a one-year residency in the Detroit Public School Community District or the Dearborn Public Schools district, and a three-year commitment to teaching in either DPSCD or DPS.

Participants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, have a background in STEM or computer science, and demonstrate a desire to make a difference in education. Inquire today to start making a difference.
