WIXOM – On January 16, Detroit Public Television launches Detroit PBS Kids 24/7 channel, providing young viewers, their parents and caregivers with a new platform to positively engage their interest in learning. Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation is sponsoring the new channel.

“We are delighted to be partnering with this new community initiative that will positively impact children and their families in so many important ways,” said Lawrence J. Burns, President, Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation. “It fits perfectly with our mission of helping the children of Michigan and beyond through education, research and community service,”  

Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation will partner with DPTV at the official launch event that will take place on January 13 at the Michigan State University Extension Center in Detroit, featuring special presentations by PBS’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of  Children’s Media and Education, Lesli Rotenberg and MSU’s President Lou Anna Simon, as well as special events with PBS Characters at Oakland Mall on January 21 and the Detroit Public Library on January 26.

“Having the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation on board as a launch partner further solidifies our work in the children space and allows us to expand the reach of the new Detroit PBS Kids 24/7 Channel,” said Rich Homberg, President and CEO of DPTV. “We are looking forward to working together on this initiative and many others as we use this new platform to provide more opportunities for children, parents and educators to engage with and benefit from the vast resources of PBS.”

Detroit PBS KIDS 24/7 channel will include popular favorites such as DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, ODD SQUAD, WILD KRATTS, Super WHY!, CLIFFORD, DINOSAUR TRAIN and more; PBS KIDS’ newest series SPLASH AND BUBBLES, NATURE CAT and READY JET GO! will also be featured. The schedule of children’s programming on 56.1 will be different from the 24/7 channel, offering families a variety of options.
