Celebrate The Holidays At The Michigan Science Center With Fun Events For Kids Of All Ages

DETROIT – Celebrate the holiday season at the Michigan Science Center. There’s something new to experience for all ages at MiSci and this winter is no exception.

Celebrate MiSci’s fifth birthday with FREE general admission. Preregistration is required and can be found at Mi-Sci.org soon.  When: Tuesday, December 26 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

1001 Inventions: Untold Stories from a Golden Age of Innovation – The international award-winning exhibition, 1001 Inventions: Untold Stories from a Golden Age of Innovation, showcases the diverse spectrum of bold thinkers and new technologies that were produced by this multi-faith, multi-cultural civilization, reaching from Spain to China during the golden age of Muslim Civilization.

Visitors can enjoy FREE access with paid general admission to experience more than 60 exhibits, short films, live stage shows, hands-on workshops and learning resources that introduce them to the innovative breakthroughs that still influence our world today. The exhibit is open until January 7, 2018.

New Evening Hours – Spend your Wednesday evenings at MiSci from 3-8 p.m. and enjoy access to 1001 Inventions, plus special themed activities, including Foodie Night, Storytelling Night, The Zero Effect and more. Every Wednesday until December 27 from 3 – 8 p.m.

Forty-fifth Annual holiday open house, Noel Night, includes more than 100 participating venues in the Detroit-area, including MiSci. Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday shopping, family craft activities and performances by more than 200 area music, theatre and dance groups. Visitors to MiSci will enjoy free general admission that evening. Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 5:00-10:00 p.m.

Deemed the “thinking person’s happy hour,” MiSci’s “After Dark” series features a variety of science themes, access to hundreds of hands-on exhibits, DJs, signature drinks and more for a one-of-a-kind experience, just for ages 21 plus. The third Thursday of every month, 6 – 9 p.m.

Star Wars (Dec. 21): Is the Force strong within you? Celebrate the opening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi with lightsaber painting, a costume content and a discussion about the newest movie. Mad Scientist Camp –  Looking for something for your kids to do that is both fun and educational during the holiday break? Check out MiSci’s Mad Scientist Camp where children in 1st – 5th grade will learn how to create innovative inventions by identifying problems, pursuing ideas, and developing new solutions. Inspired by 1001 Inventions, this camp will include hands-on experiments and projects, a film in our Chrysler IMAX Dome Theatre, and a guest speaker presenting a live demonstration of their invention. Tuesday, January 2 Friday, January 5 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
