LANSING – The campaigns backing initiatives for paid sick leave and a minimum wage hike in Michigan both say they’ll emerge from winter weather petitioning with ballot proposals to turn in this spring.
Danielle Atkinson, spokesperson for MI Time to Care, said the group is aiming for “early spring” to turn in their signatures. The group started petitioning in September, which means signatures would start becoming stale six months after that, or sometime in March.
Over at Michigan One Fair Wage, spokesperson Dr. Alicia Renee Farris said they started canvassing the first week of November, but she set a deadline of April to finish.
Both campaigns said they’re not formally coordinating with each other. But both acknowledged there’s at least some crossover in terms of volunteers assisting with both campaigns.
