ROYAL OAK – Bamboo Detroit Co-Founder Amanda Lewan joins M2 TechCast to talk about her co-working space in downtown Detroit she launched in 2013. Bamboo Detroit now has 250 members, more than a quarter of which generate at least $500,000 a year.
Lewan details other results form the 2017 Bamboo Detroit Economic Impact Report. Other findings include:
- Bamboo members generate revenue of $74 million annually
- 51% considered themselves women-owned businesses with 65% of businesses citing a woman partner or woman leader with an equity stake in the business
- 47% consider themselves minority owned businesses
- 43% of our members reside in the city of Detroit, with 33% elsewhere in Wayne County, and 15% in Oakland County
- Hire an average of 4 people per year
- 80% of members to date have hired, partnered, or referred business to another Bamboo member
