DETROIT – Two new surveys on the presidential race show presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with a commanding lead over presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in Michigan.

One survey, conducted by Ballotpedia with the firm Evolving Strategies, showed Clinton at 47 percent, Trump at 30 percent and Libertarian Gary Johnson at 14 percent. The survey of 612 active registered voters has an error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

In a head-to-head race, the poll showed Clinton at 50 percent and Trump at 33 percent.

The Michigan survey was one of several the two organizations conducted across seven competitive states June 10-22 and was released Wednesday.

The other poll, released Thursday, showed Clinton at 48 percent, Trump at 33 percent and Johnson at 12 percent in Michigan. This survey was from the Democratic firm Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research of likely voters in nine competitive states June 11-20.

The number of Michigan voters in the survey was 300, and the survey contains an error margin of plus or minus 5.66 percentage points.

Nationally in this survey, 52 percent of those backing Johnson said they are Republican while 36 percent said they were independent. However, if asked to pick between Clinton and Trump, 31 percent of those chose Clinton and 30 percent chose Trump.

Both surveys were conducted via live telephone interviews.
