In the first segment, Lohrmann and Stiennon continue to examine the plague of ransomware – one of the latest exploits by cyber criminals looking for an easy BitCoin. Through ransomeware, cyber criminals encrypt the targets data and force them to pay a ransom to get it unencrypted. One of the better known versions of ransomeware is Cyptolocker.
